When serving on a buffet or dining table for a party or special occasion. It's always nice to have things at different levels. It gives you more room for placement and it's pleasing to the eye. You want your food to be the showcase, not necessarily the dishes it's being served on. Having nice white or glass dishes, truly shows off your entrees in a beautiful way!
